Participation in the presentation of a unique historical and local history publication on the study of a sacred monument of the region

On February 10, 2025, lecturers of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History Oleg Yegreshiy, Andriy Korolko and Bohdan Paska and students of groups SOI–21 and SOI–22, as part of the production historical and local history practice (in institutions of extracurricular education), took part in the presentation of the book by a graduate of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Candidate of Historical Sciences Andriy Humenyak, “The History of the Dominican Monastery in Bogorodchany”, which took place in the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. Franko. The moderator of the event was the writer, historian and teacher Ihor Antonyuk.

The meeting took place in the form of a rich dialogue, during which Andriy Humenyak briefly described his work on the preparation of the monograph, noting that it was written on the basis of his candidate dissertation, defended in 2020. He devoted an important place in his speech to the main milestones in the history of the Dominican Monastery and its current state.

The presented study used a significant array of primary sources from both Ukrainian and foreign archives. The history of the Bogorodchany Monastery of Dominican monks was highlighted, the spread of the missions of the Dominican Order, the reform of the organizational structure of the order in Galicia, as well as the peculiarities of the religious and economic life of the members of the order were reflected.

Visitors had the opportunity to talk with the author of the book, ask questions, to which the author gave detailed and reasoned answers, which became a clear confirmation of his love for studying the history of the church.

Second-year students of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) of the Bachelor’s degree program (full-time study) at the initial stage of their industrial historical and local history practice (in institutions of extracurricular education) learned a lot of useful and informative things from the presentation of this historical and local history research on the study of a sacred monument of the wide world of the small Motherland.
