The first meeting of the expert commission on civic and historical education of the Ukrainian Institute for the Development of Education

On January 31, 2025, the leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians Bohdan Paska took part in the first meeting of the expert commission on the civic and historical educational branch of the Ukrainian Institute for the Development of Education. This commission was established by the relevant order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1636 dated November 20, 2024. The meeting was chaired by Professor of the Department of History of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vadym Anatoliyovych Rubel. The secretary was the methodologist of the Department of Educational Content of the Ukrainian Institute for the Development of Education, Vsevolod Sergiyenko.

During the meeting, 10 objects of grading were considered – textbooks for the educational courses “History of Ukraine”, “World History”, “Civic Education”, intended for 8th grade students. Bohdan Paska presented to the commission an expert opinion on the textbook “History of Ukraine” for grade 8 (authors Shchupak I., Starchenko N., Burlaka O., Vlasova N., Galushko K., Dribnytsia V., Zheliba O., Krongauz V., Piskareva I., Repan O., Sekyrinsky D., Cherkas B.). The expert opinion was supported and approved by the expert commission. The commission proposed to send the textbook, like all other submitted objects of grading, for revision.

We believe that the first meeting of the expert commission will be a good start to fruitful work on improving school educational literature!
