On February 3, 2025, a cognitive open lesson by the leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians, Bohdan Valeriyovych Paska, “Dissident Movement in Ukraine. The Struggle for Freedom and Dignity” was held for high school students of the Ivano-Frankivsk Scientific Physics and Technology Lyceum. More than 30 participants attended the lesson.
The meeting with potential applicants to the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations was started by Bohdan Paska, who spoke about the advantages of studying at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, focusing on the features of the specialty “Secondary Education (History)”. Individual teachers introduced students to the advantages of studying in other specialties: Assoc. Prof. Debenko V.Z. spoke about the specialty “History and Archaeology”, Assoc. Prof. Semak O.I. – about the specialty “International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies”, Assoc. Moskalyuk M.F. – about the specialties “Political Science” and “Political Science. National Security”, prof. Mykhailyshyn L.I. – about the specialties “International Economic Relations” and “International Business Management”.
During the lesson, Bohdan Paska spoke about the development of the Ukrainian dissident movement in the Carpathian region, the figure of Valentyn Moroz and his trial. The students were introduced to the methods used by KGB officers to fight against Ukrainian dissidents, the general features of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of the second half of the 20th century, its leaders. The guests of the faculty were able to enrich their knowledge of the history of Ukraine for future preparation for the National Technical University.
